Vinification: We vinifed our 2018 Louie Pinot Gris from hand-picked 100% estate grown fruit, located in the Vinemount Ridge sub-appellation. We pressed the fruit in whole clusters in a one-ton basket press, before fermentation and aging in French and American oak.
Tasting notes: Sue-Ann named this wine for her great-great Uncle Lewis. Although the wine is weighty and round, Louie was the exact opposite! The wine boasts powerful flavours on the nose and palate. Aromatics of warm vanilla, clean wood, and spiced poached pear leap from the glass. The wine is round, smooth, and weighty on the palate, with suggestions of baked apples, spice, and a hint of citrus zest.
Serving suggestions: Serve The Louie Pinot Gris at cellar temperature (55˚F) or just below. It is wonderful on its own, but it is even better with cheese & charcuterie, roast poultry or pork, or the classic Alsatian-style flammekueche (bacon and onion flatbread).
Powerful honeyed orchard fruit, spice and toasty vanilla oak nose and palate. Weighty finish. ~ 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards
