2016 Wisteria Tree Cabernet Franc Icewine is named for the amazing wisteria vine planted by Sue-Ann's grandmother that graces Sue-Ann's front garden.
2016 was a hot dry year, perfect for red wine production. This prompted Sue-Ann to take a chance and let a few rows of her amazing Cabernet franc hang on the vine into winter to make Icewine. The fruit was picked by hand on a cold January night and immediately pressed, yielding only a small amount of juice.
Sue-Ann fermented the juice with specially selected yeast before letting the wine age for 8 months on lees in a recoopered French oak barrel. Production totals were small, with only 62 cases available at release.
Tasting notes: Luscious. Opulent. Unique. This Icewine is a classic. Nuances of lifted strawberry and cedar with a confectionary tone allude to the succulent palate that follows. Subtle wild raspberry notes migrate from nose to the palate accompanied by an array of sun warmed berries. Suggestions of vanilla and cedar allude to the barrel time for this most berry-filled Icewine.
